BTS has announced a 40-city world tour following the completion of mandatory military service for all seven members, marking the K-pop supergroup's return to full activity for the first time since 2023. The "Beyond the Stars" tour will begin in Seoul in October and extend through 2027.
The announcement sent ticket platforms into chaos as fans scrambled for pre-sale access, with Ticketmaster reporting unprecedented traffic that temporarily crashed the website. "We have never seen demand like this," said Ticketmaster President Mark Yovich. "BTS has transcended fandom into cultural phenomenon."
The tour will feature a new production concept that the group's label, HYBE, describes as the most ambitious stage production in the band's history. "We have had three years to plan this, and we intend to use every minute of that preparation," said BTS member RM in a video announcement.
Industry projections suggest the tour could gross over $800 million in ticket sales, potentially becoming the highest-grossing tour in music history. The previous record of $939 million was set by Elton John's Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
The announcement has also renewed speculation about BTS's future plans, including a potential initial public offering of HYBE's entertainment division and expansion into film and television production.
