Although he has played several different roles over the course of his career, John Boyega is primarily known for playing Finn in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, a role that made him globally famous.
But we also know that Boyega’s split with Disney was not that great, and since then, the actor has made it clear that he does not want to work with Disney anymore.
Of course, his return to the Star Wars franchise is almost impossible, but many fans hoped that he could take on an MCU role, it seems that Boyega is not keen on doing that either; recently, when he was mentioned as a potential replacement for Jonathan Majors as Kang, Boyega openly rejected the idea.
But the fans are not giving up. Namely, after a string of new Instagram posts, the fans are once again convinced that Boyega is preparing for a superhero role, despite the fact that there is nothing firm about that.
If we go back to 2020, John Boyega made it pretty clear that he wouldn’t be returning to the Star Wars franchise:
Like, you guys knew what to do with Daisy Ridley, you knew what to do with Adam Driver. You knew what to do with these other people, but when it came to Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know f*ck all.
So what do you want me to say? What they want you to say is, ‘I enjoyed being a part of it. It was a great experience…’ Nah, nah, nah. I’ll take that deal when it’s a great experience. They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let’s be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I’m not exposing anything.
Later, back in 2022, Boyega also commented on the possibility of joining an MCU film, and it seems that he really doesn’t want to work with Disney:
[Marvel] is not in the vision for me now. I want to do nuanced things…I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top ‘Iron Man’ in that universe.
And while this, more or less, killed off any chance of a proper superhero debut, the fans have seen his latest Instagram photos and videos, and the rumors about Boyega preparing for a superhero role are once again live:
Now, this doesn’t have to mean anything; Boyega is probably just working out based on what we know, but the fans want to believe that he is preparing for a superhero role, and knowing his track record with Disney, it would probably be something DCU-related. What? Only time will tell!
