According to new reports, Andy Serkis is set to play Knull, the creator of the symbiotes, in the upcoming Venom: The Last Dance. We already got a glimpse of Knull in the trailer, sitting on a dark, symbiote-covered throne, with long hair and a menacing presence.
While Serkis hasn’t confirmed this role, Daniel RPK has hinted that Serkis will indeed be bringing Knull to life. This casting news is exciting not just because of Serkis’ talent but also because it sets the stage for some epic developments in the Venom universe.
Knull is a major figure in the comics, known for being the god-like creator of Venom and all symbiotes. His character has deep connections to the larger Marvel Universe, including clashes with Celestials and characters like Thor and Silver Surfer. In the comics, Knull is terrifyingly powerful, capable of controlling symbiotes and wielding the All-Black Necrosword, a weapon that can kill gods. If Serkis takes on this role, it’s likely we’ll see a darker, more intense villain than we’ve seen in previous Venom movies.
The trailer shows Knull’s throne and symbiotes surrounding him, but it doesn’t give away much about what Knull is after. What we do know is that Knull will be a huge threat to both Eddie Brock and Venom. In the comics, Knull’s goal is total domination, using his symbiote army to take over entire worlds. It’s possible that Venom: The Last Dance will follow a similar storyline, with Knull sending symbiotes to Earth to track down Venom for something only he possesses.
Serkis isn’t done after this movie, either. Reports suggest he’ll be part of other projects beyond Venom: The Last Dance, hinting that Knull’s story could span across multiple films. This makes sense since Knull is such a significant figure in the comics, and his inclusion could open the door for even bigger crossovers in the future.
The choice of Serkis to play Knull feels right. He’s known for playing complex, digital characters like Gollum and Caesar from Planet of the Apes. Bringing a character like Knull to life—who requires a lot of CGI and performance capture—plays to Serkis’ strengths. If anyone can make Knull a truly terrifying villain, it’s Serkis.
What’s interesting is that Daniel RPK, a trusted source for movie leaks, was the first to drop this casting news. While Sony hasn’t officially confirmed it, it’s enough to get people excited about what this means for the Venom franchise and Sony’s larger universe of Marvel characters. Serkis as Knull would definitely raise the stakes for Venom, and it could lead to an all-out symbiote war that changes everything.
With Venom: The Last Dance set to hit theaters soon, we don’t have long to wait to see if this rumor is true. One thing’s for sure—if Serkis is playing Knull, we’re in for something massive. We might even see this storyline expand beyond the Venom series, bringing Knull into larger Marvel storylines. Whatever happens, the future of Venom and the symbiotes just got a lot more interesting.
