What’s in the dinosaur movie ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ starring Scarlett Johansson?

Universal has just released the first images of the project ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ , the latest film in the famous ‘Jurassic World’ film branch of this studio.

The movie Jurassic World Rebirth marks the return of the Jurassic World brand in particular and Jurassic Park in general. The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards (who directed successful works in terms of content and commerce such as Godzilla – 2014, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – 2016 and The Creator – 2023), the film’s script is written by screenwriter David Koepp (who wrote the script for the original Jurassic Park in 1993).

According to the producer, Jurassic World Rebirth takes place 5 years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion (2022), when dinosaurs escaped human control and flooded the natural world. But at this time, the living environment is very difficult for prehistoric animals to adapt to.

These descriptions by the project’s producers also reveal the symbiotic relationship between dinosaurs and humans: despite having to survive in an ecosystem very different from the one they existed in tens of millions of years ago, these giant creatures hold the key to an extremely effective cure for humans.

The movie Jurassic World Rebirth brings together a cast including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend… and no old actors from Jurassic World Dominion return to act in this latest dinosaur movie.

Universal also revealed the characters in the film. Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a scientist hired to extract dinosaur DNA for research purposes. Mahershala Ali plays Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s partner. Jonathan Bailey plays Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist. Rupert Friend plays Martin Krebs, a representative of the corporation that funds dinosaur research expeditions.

The highlight of the plot is that during the mission, Zora Bennett’s group gets lost on an island and accidentally discovers a shocking secret that has been hidden for decades.

The progress of the Jurassic World Rebirth project is moving along quite quickly. Universal announced that Jurassic World Rebirth would go into production in January this year, and shortly after, information about the director and cast was also briefly confirmed.

Director Colin Trevorrow, who spent 9 years making 3 Jurassic World movies in order to open a new direction for this classic and popular brand, announced that after the 3rd movie, Jurassic World Dominion, he will not return to the director’s chair. As the 4th part of the Jurassic World series and the 7th part of the Jurassic Park franchise , Jurassic World Rebirth has the task of opening a completely new direction for this dinosaur brand, and one of those creative directions is to “kill” the cast from the Jurassic World and Jurassic Park brands .

Before Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World Rebirth was assigned to a number of directors, but they quickly withdrew from the project. Director Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment also co-produced the project, so the 77-year-old director had a say in “choosing the right person to entrust the gold” this time. He really liked Gareth Edwards’s Godzilla movie , which was a very successful remake of the monster that Hollywood tried to adapt but failed in the late 1990s, and because Gareth Edwards is a big fan of the Jurassic Park series , it’s no surprise that he was assigned to direct Jurassic World Rebirth .

Jurassic World Rebirth is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2, 2025, right at the peak of the summer movie season in North America and many other parts of the world.
