James Gunn and DC Studios are not rushing to cast Batman and Wonder Woman, despite Superman already moving through post-production. Gunn’s current focus lies on ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ and ‘Lanterns’.

Meanwhile, Andy Muschietti, who is directing ‘The Brave and the Bold’, is also tied up with HBO’s ‘IT’ prequel, ‘Welcome to Derry’, pushing the Batman reboot to the back burner.

In the midst of this, excitement continues to build around Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman – Part II’, following high praise for ‘The Penguin’. Casting the right Bruce Wayne for the DCU is crucial under these high expectations.

According to @MyTimeToShineH, a reliable source for DCU leaks, the studios are looking for a ‘middle-aged man’ to play Batman. This choice reflects Batman’s role as a father to a 10-year-old and a long-time protector of Gotham City, reminiscent of the casting direction in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’.

The age of many characters in the DCU has been a topic of discussion among fans, highlighting seasoned actors like Kyle Chandler (59) as Hal Jordan, Nathan Fillion (53) as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi (45) as Mister Terrific. This points to a universe teeming with well-experienced heroes.

Gunn shared some insights into the forthcoming ‘The Brave and the Bold’, emphasizing the film’s focus on Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, who was unbeknownst to him for years and raised as an assassin.

Gunn expressed his fondness for Damian, calling him his ‘favorite Robin’. This film will pull from Grant Morrison’s celebrated comic book series, promising a rich narrative for fans of the ‘Bat-family’.

Peter Safran, co-CEO of DC Studios, confirmed that the movie will include various members of the Bat-family, who he feels have been neglected in cinema portrayals of Batman for too long.

While the release date for ‘The Brave and The Bold’ remains unconfirmed, there’s talk at Warner Bros. Discovery about potentially integrating Robert Pattinson’s Batman from Reeves’ films into the DCU. This integration could add an interesting twist to the universe’s dynamic, showcasing a blend of new and familiar faces under the iconic cape and cowl.
