Chris Evans’s MCU journey as Captain America, who made his film debut in a stand-alone film and went on to become one of the MCU’s most significant characters until retiring in Endgame and choosing to stay with Peggy in past, was an extremely popular one and the fans are now loving both the actor and the character.
And while Chris Evans’ MCU career is more or less over, at least in the capacity it was (we won’t rule out a cameo or two in the future, but he won’t be a major Avenger anymore), the fans still have a lot of respect for him and are following his career passionately.
In light of that, the fans have been commenting on Chris Evan’s upcoming project, Red One, which they deem to be below his acting level; some of the fans are bitterly disappointed and are comparing Evans to fellow MCU actor Ryan Reynolds, whose choices have also often been criticized for being trivial and silly.
Namely, after Deadpool & Wolverine, Chris Evans’ next project is a Holiday action comedy Red One, in which he is playing a character named Jack O’Malley, who is a hacker and bounty hunter. In the movie, he must team up with The Rock’s Callum Drift, head of North Pole security for Saint Nicholas, as they go on a mission to find Santa Claus (played by J.K. Simmons), who got kidnapped.
Alongside them, the movie will star Lucy Liu as Zoe Harlow, Kiernan Shipka as Grýla, Bonnie Hunt as Mrs. Claus, Reinaldo Faberlle as the voice of Agent Garcia (an anthropomorphic polar bear agent), Kristofer Hivju as Krampus, as well as Nick Kroll, Wesley Kimmel, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Jenna Kanell in unspecified roles.
The film doesn’t look like it has much potential, to be honest, and a lot of fans are disappointed that Evans took the role, as you can see:
Thought he had a promising path forward after Knives Out, that was a pretty charming heel turn.
But man what a fluke that turned out to be

And Snowpiercer. He’s got potential to forge a unique path, but I think he resists it. He shows promise as a villain too, as evidenced in The Grey Man, but for whatever reason he keeps falling back on these safe, silly action-comedy roles that require nothing of him but to show…

I’ll never understand how this guy, someone who’s put in good work before, seems committed to chasing the Ryan Reynolds dragon. You watch Sunshine and you’re like “you could’ve been somebody!” https://t.co/U8QGgxMsLl

The Chris thing is stupid but I never imagined Hemsworth would outpace him. And it’s not at all close. He picks interesting shit and knows how to use his star power on screen. Evans is indistinguishable from Pratt at this point

he legit could've so easily gone after the Cruise trajectory. a real shame!
