R.J. Hampton, the 2020 NBA Draft’s first-round pick, has recently found himself in hot water following a controversial video posted on social media.

In the video, the NBA G League player’s ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Jeffcoat, accused him of physical abuse. The recording went viral on social media, with the NBA fans giving mixed reactions to the incident.

Hampton knew he was being recorded and told Jeffcoat, “I don’t care if you have me on recording. I could care less… What I’m afraid of is who you are, like take it in and then fighting me off of him, ‘Oh my God, you’re abusing me.”

The mother of his child replied, “First of all, you have put your hands on me before, so…you have. I have pictures of it and text messages of it.” The NBA guard said, “Did I punch you or slap you? Then shut the fuck up. Stop. Don’t try to play the victim right now. I’ll take him to my house, he has a dad.”

The 23-year-old guard also revealed that Jeffcoat went to Miami, and her parents kept their child. He said, “You went to Miami, you went out, and your parents kept him. I don’t care if your mom is dead or alive. Shut up.” The heated exchange between R.J. Hampton and Jeffcoat drew the attention of fans on social media.

The video was initially uploaded on TikTok, with a caption that mentioned Jeffcoat traveled 11 hours with their son, Halo, to meet Hampton. However, it quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter) as the two appeared to argue over their son in a hotel lobby. Many called out Hampton’s attitude, while some even demanded his termination from the NBA.

Some fans supported Hampton, who was added to the Philadelphia 76ers’ 2024 NBA summer league roster. Many believed the accuser, Tiffany Jeffcoat, was setting up the basketball player for money.

Jeffcoat uploaded the video crying and alleged that R.J. Hampton kidnapped their 13-month-old. While she expressed her distress for the baby, she later posted an update on her Instagram story with a picture of their child sleeping comfortably.
