Amazon MGM has snagged Henry Cavill for the leading role in their live-action film adaptation of ‘Voltron.’ Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, known for his work on ‘Red Notice’ and ‘Skyscraper,’ the movie is based on a screenplay co-written by Thurber and Ellen Shanman.
While specifics about the plot remain under wraps, excitement is building around the production. The film boasts a robust production team including Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar, Thurber, and David Hoberman from Hobie Films.
Cavill is joining Daniel Quinn-Toye, a fresh face from television’s ‘Badults’ and a recent understudy to Tom Holland in ‘Romeo & Juliet.’ This marks a significant step up for Quinn-Toye as he transitions from TV to the big screen alongside Cavill.
The ‘Voltron’ franchise, inspired by Japanese anime series from Toei Animation, has been a popular entity in American culture, spawning multiple series including the eight-season hit ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender’ on Netflix.
Cavill, recently seen as ‘Cavillrine’ in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine,’ continues to expand his impressive portfolio.
