After his work with Marvel, James Gunn is now turning his attention to the DC Universe. His upcoming films will include fresh takes on iconic characters, starting with a new Superman, played by David Corenswet. But fans are already buzzing about who will take on the role of Batman in Gunn’s universe.
While there are plenty of actors who could take on the mantle, one name keeps popping up in fan discussions—Jensen Ackles. In a Reddit poll asking who should play the Caped Crusader, Ackles came out on top, beating out other fan-favorite choices like Alan Ritchson and Jake Gyllenhaal. This isn’t the first time Ackles’ name has been floated. Many believe his looks, build, and attitude are a perfect fit for Gotham’s dark hero.

On top of that, Ackles is no stranger to the role. He has voiced Batman in the animated films ‘Batman: The Long Halloween,’ showing off a voice that many feel captures the essence of the character. Now, fans are hoping he’ll step into the live-action version as well.
At the same time, some fans would like to see Robert Pattinson continue in his role in Matt Reeves’ version of Batman. Pattinson’s take on the character in The Batman has been well-received, and many hope that his story continues in Reeves’ universe, even if Gunn’s version heads in a different direction.
It’s an exciting time for Batman fans, with the possibility of having two different versions of the Dark Knight on screen at the same time. Gunn’s plans for the DC Universe remain to be fully revealed, but one thing’s for sure—there’s no shortage of opinions on who should wear the cape and cowl next.
