Avengers: Doomsday, formerly known as Avengers: Kang Dynasty, has emerged as the MCU’s biggest surprise this year. Following Jonathan Majors’ dismissal and the decision to write Kang out of the narrative, it was announced at this year’s SDCC that the upcoming Avengers installment will feature Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., facing off against MCU heroes.

This revelation came as a shock, as all prior speculations regarding Kang Dynasty are now rendered moot. We’re left with a blank canvas, open to speculation about the direction of the story.

Currently, not much official information is available about the movie aside from Robert Downey Jr.’s involvement. However, recent reports have shed some light on new details. Daniel Richtman, a well-known industry insider and leaker, has obtained information regarding the film’s technical aspects.

So far, the shooting schedule suggests that RDJ’s portrayal of Doctor Doom will enjoy significantly more screen time than other characters.

New information reveals that filming for Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to begin in March 2025. Robert Downey Jr. is expected to be on set for about three months, while the main cast will shoot for approximately one month. The supporting cast will film for one to two weeks, with the entire production anticipated to span around five months.

Fans have expressed confusion over the fact that RDJ will be filming for three months while the rest of the main cast will be involved for just one month. However, many noted that this isn’t the first time RDJ has taken on the bulk of the workload for the MCU.

Based on the schedule, it appears that about 70% of the film will focus on Doctor Doom. However, many fans have also noted that a five-month timeline for such a major production is shorter than the industry standard of six months.

This has led to concerns among fans that the MCU might end up delivering subpar CGI, a criticism the studio has faced frequently in recent years.

Regardless, it appears that the MCU is aiming to maximize its investment, as Robert Downey Jr.’s reported salary for the upcoming two Avengers films is staggering.
