Travis Kelce is not the only member of his family getting into the acting business.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end made his acting debut in FX’s Grotesquerie and has a scheduled guest spot in the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel. His mother Donna is also about to make her first on-screen appearance. She’s set to have a role in Hallmark Channel’s upcoming Christmas movie, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. The news was announced this summer.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Travis discussed how pumped he is for his mom, saying he was “so excited” to learn of her small-screen opportunity.
The All-Pro tight end also shared some of the text message convo he had with his mother after the news became official.
“I shot her a text saying, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re a movie star now! Did you ever think growing up in East side of Cleveland that you were going to end up being in the movies one day?’” Kelce said.
“It’s fun to kind of have those conversations,” the Chiefs star added.
It has been a pretty wild ride for the entire Kelce family over the last few years. As Travis and Jason’s profiles increased in the NFL, so did Donna’s off the field. Adding Taylor Swift into the mix just sent things into hyperdrive.
“We can’t go anywhere, really,” Donna Kelce told Glamour recently. “If we want to do something, you have to rent out the restaurant or the movie theater or whatever. I do get to sneak away every once in a while, and we go to places that nobody knows where they are.”
Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story is set to premier later this year. Donna Kelce will play the manager of Kansas City BBQ Restaurant Norma & Nic’s in the film.
