And while it is not her only role, She-Hulk is definitely the most famous role in the life of actress Tatiana Maslany.

To be frank, the majority of the hate is a result of the fact that the so-called fans don’t like female leads and that they consider the show to be woke and empowering for women. And people are bothered by that, sadly, which makes no sense and can be very damaging to the people involved.

These people are not fans; they’re bigots and sexists, and they deserve to be condemned because of their online behavior. In a recent interview, Maslany responded to the sexism she was faced with while working on She-Hulk, as well as her old Bob Iger comments that might have sealed her MCU future.

She-Hulk was a very intriguing series. It was a social and political satire, as well as a proper superhero show with proper ideals and values.

It expanded the MCU lore and introduced us to a character who definitely deserved to be on the screen. And while the show was far from perfect – it had a lot of moments that were simply too much. It was a funny and entertaining show overall that actually contained a lot of self-irony used in a proper way.

Despite critical praise, a large group of people—who don’t deserve to be called fans—attacked the show online. They insulted the lead actress simply because the series had a female lead and was labeled as “woke,” as if that’s something shameful.

We have already written about the hypocrisy of some of the fans in relation to Deadpool (Deadpool and She-Hulk are very similar, but what fans love about Deadpool, they hate about She-Hulk, and that is called sexism). This hypocrisy also – in part – led to the sexist abuse Maslany was faced with.

In a recent talk with the Independent, she commented on that:

“I think what’s exciting… [she checks herself] … exciting, ha. I think what’s fun about it is that [series creator] Jessica Gao built into the story that people were going to troll us. When we started to get the same responses that [Gao] had actually baked into the writing, it felt like part of the fun.”

It’s never fun being insulted, especially when you’re being insulted and verbally abused because you’re a woman. But, Maslany is a proper fighter, a fighter who was not afraid of calling her then-boss, Disney CEO Bob Iger, “completely out of touch” after his comments that the union demands during the SAG-AFTRA strike were “unrealistic.” Here’s what she is saying about that moment now:

“In those moments, you’re so heated up. It’s hard to articulate yourself in a way that you want when you’re on the picket line with everybody.”

These comments might have sealed the fate of She-Hulk Season 2, but it remains to be seen whether Disney will actually hold a grudge against the actress or not.
