Episode 5 of ‘Agatha All Along’ premiered yesterday, confirming that the Teen is indeed Wiccan, also known as Billy Kaplan. However, it also established that Agatha is irredeemably evil. At the beginning of the episode, as Agatha interacted with the Teen and Rio Vidal, fans hoped for a possible “Loki-style” redemption arc. Unfortunately, Episode 5 shattered those expectations.
In this latest installment, the coven faces the Trial of Spirits, a challenge within Agatha’s domain. The first spirit they encounter is that of Evanora Harkness—Agatha’s mother and the leader of the Salemites.
To pass the trial, Agatha’s mother demands that the coven leave Agatha with her for punishment, citing all the crimes she has committed in her relentless pursuit of power throughout her unnaturally long life.
Agatha is stunned to realize that her mother harbors such deep hatred for her after all these years. Evanora emphasizes her point by stating that she should have killed Agatha at birth, implying that Agatha was “born evil.”
Evanora then possesses Agatha and tries to attack the group again. This time, Alice Wu intervenes, using her fire magic to help Agatha resist her mother’s influence.
Seizing the moment, Agatha drains Alice of her magic and life force, leaving her a lifeless shell. With Alice now dead, there’s no hope for her revival.
Furious, the Teen confronts Agatha about her actions. Agatha unapologetically asserts that she killed her coven member, claiming that everyone, including the Teen, desires power.
At that moment, the Teen lost control and pushed Agatha, along with Lilia Calderu and Jennifer Kale, into what appears to be a magical quicksand. Their fates in the MCU remain uncertain.
Initially, Agatha claimed that she accidentally drained Alice, insisting that she couldn’t help it. However, the rest of the coven accused her of lying. Agatha’s past reveals evidence that she would go to any lengths for power, including the possibility that she sacrificed her son to Mephisto to obtain the Darkhold. Additionally, we know from ‘WandaVision’ that one coven member, Mrs. Hart, has already died as a result of Agatha’s ambitions.
It seems likely that Agatha views her coven as expendable, willing to sacrifice each of them to regain her true power.
