As the sequel to WandaVision, it was expected that Agatha All Along would be packed with references to Scarlet Witch, despite her apparent conclusion in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
For the past year, key figures in the MCU have insisted that Scarlet Witch is dead. However, fans who believe this might just be an elaborate misdirection could be onto something.
Agatha All Along may be Agatha’s show, and showrunner Jac Schaeffer has openly stated that she doesn’t want Wanda overshadowing Agatha’s spotlight. Yet, the series feels like it’s setting up Wanda’s return. So, why is Wanda’s comeback more important than ever?
The MCU is in a peculiar state right now, especially when it comes to its former Avengers. Iron Man is gone for good—Kevin Feige made that clear. However, RDJ is returning as Doctor Doom, and fans will likely struggle to separate him from his iconic role as Tony Stark, constantly searching for hints of Iron Man in his new character.
Meanwhile, we have Sam Wilson as the new Captain America, but the buzz surrounding his upcoming film feels surprisingly low-key, with early impressions making it seem more like a Hulk movie. Speaking of Thor, there’s news of another Thor installment, but many fans are nervous about it—fearing it could further damage the character after recent portrayals.
The Hulk has also faced criticism, with the majority of fans feeling the character’s potential has been squandered. Shuri’s Black Panther and Captain Marvel’s latest films didn’t quite hit the mark either, leaving them on the sidelines for now. With so many key characters either mishandled or underperforming, Wanda’s return could bring much-needed excitement and stability to the MCU.
This brings us back to Scarlet Witch—an original Avenger whose story may have been mishandled, but enough time has passed that fans are eager to see the next chapter unfold.
Agatha All Along has once again made Wanda central to the MCU, and it seems clear that the Witches’ Road is setting up her return. But her comeback won’t be simple, which is why it needs to be carefully built up across multiple projects. Our best guess? The rumored Children’s Crusade.
In The Children’s Crusade storyline, the Young Avengers—especially Wiccan—go on a mission to find and confront Scarlet Witch. After her reality-altering actions caused major upheaval in the Avengers Disassembled and House of M arcs, her role in shaping the Marvel Universe became undeniable. In the MCU, these stories could easily be adapted with a multiversal twist.
The Young Avengers are already being introduced in the MCU, with Kamala Khan leading the charge and several members already established. It would be a missed opportunity if the rumored Young Avengers project doesn’t address Wiccan and Speed’s complicated relationship with their “dead” mother.
Even in death, Scarlet Witch’s future looks incredibly promising. We’re confident she’s poised for a huge role in upcoming MCU installments—possibly extending well beyond the Multiversal Saga.
