With just six months until the release of Daredevil: Born Again, excitement for the show is already building. The beloved cast is set to return, with Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Kingpin, and both Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll back as Foggy and Karen, respectively.

The original version of Daredevil: Born Again was scrapped after filming nearly half of its episodes because it failed to capture the interest of viewers and didn’t align with the tone of Netflix’s original series. It was reportedly intended to be a comedy and courtroom drama with minimal Daredevil action.

I usually refrain from commenting on something I haven’t seen, but this original plan sounds like a complete mess! Fortunately, the executives recognized this and reshot much of the show, bringing back familiar faces and villains while establishing the right tone.

Attendees at this year’s NYCC were treated to the Daredevil: Born Again trailer (you can also check it out by following this link). What we’ve seen so far aligns with the rumors, leaks, and comments from cast members, indicating that the show will be action-packed, violent, and gritty.

During the same event, Charlie Cox noted that some elements of the show would be “a first for Disney+.”

We’re continuing the darkness of the first series on Netflix. It is gonna be that dark and that intense. We worked our butts off to make it that way. So, we’re excited about it because of that

As far as I’m concerned, the biggest question that I get asked the most is, is it gonna be dark like the original series? And the answer to that is a definite yes. It is dark. It is crazy. We do some things that are definitely a first for Disney+.

Cox also revealed that his character will use the F-word in the show. While Deadpool beat him to it a few months ago, this will be the first instance in a Disney+ series.

When asked if a swear word appeared in Episode 1, Cox confirmed it does not, but suggested it will be included later and teased that there might be plans for a second season of Daredevil: Born Again.

“It is not, but it was shocking to me. It’s almost under my breath, but you can hear it. I was like, ‘Oh wow. Great!’ Good to know for Season 2.”

We’re not surprised by these comments, especially since the show’s producer teased intense action months ago, and Vincent D’Onofrio mentioned being astonished that some of the scenes they filmed made it to the final cut, likely due to their brutality.

If you remember, Echo was a street-level series with scenes that were quite brutal, earning it a TV-MA rating. It’s possible that Daredevil: Born Again will follow a similar path.
