Dbrand Launches Long

Dbrand has launched its Darkplates Slim faceplates, a custom alternative designed specifically for the PlayStation 5 Slim. This release follows the company’s , but now with a focus on the new slim model of Sony’s console.

Dbrand is taking another bold shot at PlayStation's design choices with its new slim faceplates replacement. Speaking to IGN, CEO Adam Ijaz commented on the new release, stating: "Given our legal history with Sony on the Darkplates line, we were careful to design plates that are indisputably original. Lucky for us, the stock side panels on the PS5 Slim are hideous. Consolidating 4 panels down to 2 allowed us to create a design that was both remarkably cleaner and unquestionably original."

For those unfamiliar, from Sony over its original PS5 faceplates. In response, the company altered its designs, removing the distinctive collar seen on Sony’s official plates, creating a sleeker, more minimalist look.

This is repeated with the new design, and the slim Darkplates stand out by offering just two faceplates, compared to Sony’s official four-part design for the PS5 Slim. Another notable feature is the signature mesh-covered vent, which Dbrand claims can improve airflow and help keep your PS5 cooler.

There are also some new customization options, including skins that cover up that glossy PS5 midsection with a wrap of your choosing. Dbrand is also offering new translucent color filters that tint the PS5 light
bars into a different color hue, and its own standalone stand for the home console.

Sony has made efforts to give players more aesthetic choices with its range of official PS5 faceplates, some inspired by games like . However, the overall design of the PS5—even with its slim revision—still divides opinion. Dbrand’s Darkplates Slim now offers another edgier alternative, aimed at those who prefer a more streamlined approach to their console's appearance.

Dbrand's Darkplates 2.0 currently tops IGN's best PS5 faceplates breakdown, and for good reason, so there's plenty to be excited for now that the new "Darkplates for the uglier PS5" are available to buy.

But their not the only ones improving the look of the PS5, after Sony recently launched its limited series of 30th Anniversary PS5 consoles. The PS5 Slim Digital Edition version of the special edition console has sold out at all of the places it's gone live so far.
