These two are as big of mama’s boys as you thought.
When Glamour decided to highlight four special moms for our annual Women of the Year Awards—Donna Kelce, Maggie Baird, Mandy Teefey, and Tina Lawson—we knew all their kids would be happy to praise them. But there’s something particularly sweet about seeing Travis and Jason Kelce describe what they love about their icon of a mother, Donna.
“Mama Donna!” Travis cried during a video call with his brother. “She is the most loving. And she is just an absolute saint of a human being,” he continued, adding, “I don’t think she’s done any wrong in her life. She just makes life look fun. And I think I’ve always admired that about Mom.”
Jason, himself a parent, reflected on the example his mother set. “Mom always put Trav and I first. As, I think, any parent that’s doing a good job does. She did everything,” he said, recalling, “Looking back it’s impressive how much Mom did do. And I don’t know that dads are as good at that stuff. Mom kinda nailed it. If I can be anywhere close to as good of a parent as she was, I’ll be doing a good job with my kids.” Too cute.
When asked about motherhood for a group interview, Donna Kelce didn’t mince words. “Being a mom is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s so much easier to just go to work,” the former banker said. “But raising children, when they’re totally dependent on you and you’re trying to do the best you can with the limited resources that you have, it’s the most daunting task I’ve ever had to do.” Looks like she pulled it off, though!
Travis summed it up perfectly: “Mama, congratulations on your amazing award, we are so proud of you and you are so deserving of it.”
