Though he may not be as well-known as some of the Avengers, Shang-Chi of Marvel is becoming more and more well-known because of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He is a very interesting character with rich lore, and that is why fans love him and want to see more of him.
Though some fans had some complaints about the way various plot points were handled, the first Shang-Chi film was a strong success for Marvel and was well-liked by most of the audience. Ultimately, the film can be deemed a success overall, which is why fans are anticipating Marvel’s recently announced sequel.
Recently, the actor shared an interesting post on Instagram and the fans are already seeing a potential Shang-Chi tease there.
If you remember, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was released in 2021. The film received mostly positive reviews and earned $432.2 million on a $150-200 million budget. This means that it can be labeled as a success.
The fans loved the story and how the movie expanded his role, which is why a sequel is eagerly awaited. Not that long ago, while appearing as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Liu was asked about the sequel, and here is what he said:
You want me to lose my job, is that it? This is where I use all the mental gymnastics that I possibly can to answer this question. I will say this. It’s definitely happening, I should probably lead with that. People, whether it’s online or in person, ask me every single day and tell me every single day how much they enjoyed the first movie and how much of a moment it was.
And I think there’s just so much goodwill, and I’m so deeply appreciative of that. So please know that if you’ve ever sent me a message, if you’ve ever asked about a sequel or just approached or any which way, I really take it to heart, and I really, really appreciate it. I think I speak for myself and Destin [Daniel Cretton], our returning director, when I say that we’re so beyond excited to jump back in.
So yeah, it seems that the sequel is, indeed, happening, but we still don’t have any details for you. But, Liu recently posted the following on Instagram:
Seeing how the photo emphasizes Liu’s physique, many fans believe that the actor is preparing for the role of Shang-Chi and that this post was actually a tease by the actor, which could imply that filming is starting soon.
