An Atlanta Falcons superstar is boldly poking the bear ahead of his team’s Week 3 “Sunday Night Football” clash against Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Travis Kelce’s Chiefs are coming off a nail-biting victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium that moved them to 2-0 on the season. The Falcons, coming off a potential season-saving road win over the Philadelphia Eagles, will try and hand the defending champs their first loss of 2024.
Trash-talking a premier NFL superstar like Kelce is never a good idea. But Falcons Pro Bowl safety Jessie Bates III couldn’t help but place himself in the spotlight by threatening to trash-talk Taylor Swift during Sunday’s clash.
Appearing on “The Pacman Jones Show: Politely Raw” hosted by former NFL star Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones, Bates warned Travis Kelce that there may be some trash talk about his celebrity girlfriend:
“I don’t listen to much Taylor Swift but obviously you got to respect [her] for what she has done with her career and then with Travis, obviously, you got to have some type of respect with him…But once that clock ticks and we in between those lines you know I see red sometimes so I might say some crazy stuff to him. It may involve Taylor, it may not.”
Kelce is off to a surprisingly slow start, with only four receptions for 39 yards and no touchdowns over Kansas City’s first two games. We”ll see if he can put together a signature Kelce performance on prime-time and put Mr. Bates in his place.
In his second season with Atlanta, Bates has two pass breakups and one interception. He intercepted Jalen Hurts late on Monday night to seal the Falcons’ victory and prevent them from a disastrous 0-2 start.
Perfect Opportunity For Travis Kelce To Take Over
The Falcons will likely assign star cornerback AJ Terrell to trail wide receivers Rashee Rice and/or Xavier Worthy, which would open the door for Travis Kelce to draw favorable matchups and take over the game.
It’s only a matter of time until Patrick Mahomes starts feeding Kelce aplenty again. And you have to think Kelce might be a little more motivated to dominate on Sunday following Bates’ bold comments. It’s never a good idea to trash-talk a player’s significant other, after all.
