Donna Kelce, mother of NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce, has nothing but praise for Taylor Swift. At the New York premiere of Ryan Murphy’s latest thriller Grotesquery, which stars Travis Kelce, Donna shared some kind words about the pop superstar.
“There’s nothing really in particular, it’s just she’s a really decent human being that I admire,” Donna said when asked about Taylor, further fueling excitement around the budding relationship between the singer and her son.
Donna Kelce last saw Taylor during the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 15, where she cheered on both her son and Taylor, who was in attendance.
However, a funny mix-up soon ensued online when fans confused Donna with Taylor Swift’s own mom, Andrea Swift.
The confusion began when Star Wars actor Mark Hamill posted a picture on social media showing Andrea Swift at the Chiefs game wearing a pin that read “In My 87 Era,” a nod to Travis Kelce’s jersey number and Taylor’s ongoing Eras Tour. One fan, with the handle Chief Sarah 24, reposted the image and mistakenly tagged Donna Kelce instead of Andrea, writing, “This is the sweetest thing I’ve read all day.”
The confusion spread quickly, with many fans speculating that some couldn’t tell the two blonde moms apart. However, Donna Kelce took the mix-up in stride, replying directly to the fan on September 20 with a heartfelt message: “Love you so much.” The fan responded with an apology for dragging Donna into the mix-up, but also expressed admiration, writing, “Mrs. Kelce, I apologize for dragging you into the middle of this confusing story… I appreciate the thoughtful post, and by the way, I love you too!”
Despite the lighthearted confusion between the two moms, there’s no doubt about the strong bond they share. Donna and Andrea were spotted sharing a sweet moment during the Chiefs game, hugging and chatting in their suites. At one point, Donna was even seen holding Andrea’s arm as they laughed and shared a friendly conversation. Andrea subtly paid tribute to her daughter and Travis by wearing her “87 Era” pin, while Donna went a step further by rocking a custom-designed Chiefs cap that paid homage to both Swift and Kelce.
The cap, which Donna wore at the September 5 game, was decorated with white chrysanthemums—Travis’s birth flower—and holly branches, representing Taylor’s December birthday. It also featured Travis’s iconic number 87, showing just how supportive Donna is of both her son and his new relationship.
As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance continues to garner headlines, Donna Kelce’s public show of admiration for Taylor, along with the touching moments between her and Andrea, has added another layer of charm to the blossoming relationship between the superstar and the NFL tight end.
