The MCU has many mysteries, some of which will be explored in future films, while others were introduced long ago and never mentioned again, serving as fun references or Easter eggs. One such mystery is “Knowhere,” the current headquarters of the Guardians. An interesting theory suggests that Venom: The Last Dance might help explain it!

As you may know, “Knowhere” is the decapitated head of a Celestial. However, the MCU has never explained how this head was cut off or which Celestial it belonged to.

Hundreds of years ago, the Tivan Group began mining inside the decapitated skull of a Celestial to collect its valuable bone, brain tissue, and spinal fluid. With no rules, Knowhere became a safe place for outlaws from all over the galaxy. This is where the history of the head starts in the MCU.

In the latest Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Knowhere is the headquarters for the team and has become a safe place for the children and experiments rescued from the High Evolutionary’s ship.

But how does this connect to Venom 3? Well, Venom: The Last Dance introduced Knull, the King in Black, to the screen. Knull is one of the most powerful and frightening villains in the Marvel Universe, with a very dark backstory.

Knull was an ancient evil god who ruled the Abyss, a void between the end of one universe and the start of another. He was made from the darkness that existed before him. Knull originally slept in the Void but woke up when the Celestials began creating the universe.

They wanted Knull to be the King in Black, a protector of the new universe, but he refused and got angry. To show his rage, he created a sword from living darkness and decapitated one of the Celestials.

The other Celestials threw him back into the void, but Knull used the dead Celestial’s head to make a powerful sword called All-Black the Necrosword. He also created a dark suit of armor and started a violent war against other gods and all life, becoming the terrifying figure we know today.

Now you might be wondering how the decapitated Celestial head in the MCU connects to Knull in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

Knull isn’t limited to just one universe; he’s a Multiversal villain, which means he can easily travel between different realities. This idea has been hinted at for the King in Black now that he has been introduced in the SSU.

It’s possible that Knull once visited Earth-616, or maybe he is originally from there and became angry with the Celestials. If Knull already knows about Earth-616, it could explain why Gorr has All-Black the Necrosword.

In Thor: Love and Thunder, the sword’s origin is linked to the Dark Shadow Lord before it eventually ends up with Gorr. This isn’t a great origin story for the sword since the Necrosword is one of the most famous weapons in Marvel Comics and is closely connected to Knull.

If Knull could travel across the Multiverse, the MCU could have a chance to explain the sword’s true origin and connect Knull to Gorr in a better way.
