Josh Brolin, the actor behind the formidable Thanos in Marvel’s Infinity Saga, recently spoke about the possibility of returning to his villainous role.
In a discussion with Collider, Brolin revealed his openness to once again donning the motion capture suit as Thanos, but only if the project is steered by Joe and Anthony Russo.
‘There’s something about playing Thanos—it’s similar to Sicario; it needs to feel right. Sometimes Ryan Reynolds and I end up chatting about Taylor Swift instead of focusing on Deadpool 4.
It really boils down to whether it fits in his imagination and mine. If Thanos is brought back, it has to be under the right conditions. I’d do anything the Russos ask of me,’ Brolin expressed.
Though Brolin was coy about any official talks with Marvel, even his evasive cough during the interview has sparked rumors and anticipation among fans.
Thanos might have a significant narrative role in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, potentially facing off against Doctor Doom, now portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., for dominion over Battleworld—a key plot point from the comics.
The Russo brothers are confirmed to direct the next chapters in the Marvel saga, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, set for release in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
They have expressed their excitement about returning to the Marvel Universe, aiming to take both new and familiar characters in unexpected directions.
‘Our journey through the Marvel Universe has been a fulfillment of a life-long dream. Every film connected with audiences in a unique way.
We’re excited to work with Kevin, Lou, and the Marvel team again to craft new adventures that surprise and delight audiences,’ the Russo brothers stated following their announcement at SDCC.
With the Marvel Universe expanding, fans are keenly awaiting what surprises ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will unveil.
