It’s been a big week for celebrities who own haunted multi-million-dollar estates. First Cate Blanchett got the go-ahead to build a meditation room on her ghost-ridden property, once she moves all those bats of course. Now Liam Payne has finally sold his paranormal-tinged mansion to the tune of $10.16 million.

Two years after he listed the property, the pop star has finally unloaded the remote Monte Nido home located in the Santa Monica mountains between Malibu and Calabasas, making a profit of roughly $161,000.

He originally listed the mansion for almost $4 million more but repeatedly lowered the asking price as time went on. The celebrity-caliber compound boasts a number of luxurious amenities, such as a wine cellar, private vineyard, spa, pool, meditation room, koi pond, teahouse, and waterfalls located throughout the property.

The 9,659 square-foot home also features five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, as well as two more guest homes, and a guardhouse, all sitting on 4.69 acres of land. Payne originally purchased the property in 2015 for $10 million before renting it out for $60,000 a month.

Part of the reason Payne may have had some trouble offloading the property could be because he previously told The Sun in October 2017 that he believes the home has some otherwordly inhabitants. Apparently, after he and his then-pregnant girlfriend Cheryl Cole purchased the mansion, a stranger approached his mother in the street to inform her, “You’ve got a ghost in your house…He’s called Alan,” the singer informed the outlet. “I’ve never seen him but I knew these lights were coming on at three o’clock in the morning in this house.”

The former One Direction member continued, “Cheryl wouldn’t stay in the top room, being pregnant with the baby. I’ve seen lights go on and off in the middle of the night and a few little creepy things, like taps turning on and off. If you don’t believe in it, I don’t think it can get to you. But Cheryl was like, ‘I’m not sleeping upstairs.’ So we slept downstairs in the cinema room. First World problems. For a week, we were sleeping in the cinema room and I was playing PS4 while she was asleep next to me.” Payne’s supernatural encounters are enough to make Cate Blanchett’s rare bat cave and pentagram graffiti look like a walk in the park.

In 2021, Liam Payne, former member of mega boy band One Direction, made headlines with the sale of his haunted Monte Nido mansion for $A13.1m ($US10.161m).

Payne was unable to sell the home for several years.

The transaction barely turned a profit over five years after he purchased the property for $US10m in 2015 – Payne said at the time his then partner Cheryl Cole had paranormal experiences in the residence.

Payne revealed Cheryl avoided the top room during her pregnancy with son Bear, fearing the supernatural presence he believed existed in the home.

The home was unable to be sold for several years but was eventually sold to pop star Halsey

The singer recounted eerie occurrences such as flickering lights and randomly running taps.

Initially listing the charming mansion for $US14m in 2018 before dropping the price to $US10.75m — pop sensation Halsey was named as the new owner.

The mansion nestled in the hills above Malibu, the sprawling estate spanned nearly five acres.

Some features of the home included a main 9,700-square-foot house, guesthouse, recording studio, and various entertainment amenities.

The lush grounds boast manicured gardens, koi ponds, waterfalls, a pool, and a meditation house designed to offer serenity and elegance.
