Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce recently addressed a viral moment during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Miami, where fans speculated that the All-Pro center had dozed off during the show. Speaking on the popular “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Travis Kelce, Jason humorously set the record straight.
It all started when a photo surfaced of Jason sitting down, seemingly relaxed, during the concert. With his daughter Elliot by his side, Jason was seen tapping his thigh, which led fans on social media to assume he had fallen asleep mid-performance. However, Jason firmly denied the rumors, defending himself with a light-hearted explanation.
“Everyone thinks I was sleeping, but I was just in the moment,” Kelce explained. “I’m tapping my leg, just feeling the music. How can you sleep with your hand hovering above your knee? That’s impossible!” He even invited viewers to zoom in on his hand in the viral image to prove his point.
Jason attended the concert with his wife, Kylie, and their daughters, Elliot and Wyatt, alongside his mom, Donna Kelce. The family, who enjoyed the show amidst pouring rain, were joined by several friends, including former NFL player Bo Allen.
“I was just trying not to make a scene,” Kelce continued, joking that sitting in an open area at the concert felt like being in a fishbowl. He added that the energy of the Miami crowd, combined with Taylor Swift’s electrifying performance, kept him fully awake and engaged throughout.
Travis, who couldn’t attend the concert but had his own share of “FOMO” (fear of missing out), teased Jason on the podcast, noting the confusion among fans who mistook Kylie for Bo Allen in some of the online commentary.
“People thought Kylie was Bo Allen!” Travis laughed, as they read through fan comments that mistook Bo’s muscular build for Jason’s wife, leading to a playful dramatic reenactment on the podcast.
Despite the viral moment, Jason expressed his excitement over attending the show with his family, praising Taylor Swift’s talent and the unforgettable atmosphere in Miami. “Everyone had a great time,” he said. “The show was next-level, and I’m just grateful we were all there to experience it.”
As for the rumors of him sleeping? Jason is sticking to his story: he was simply “in the groove.”
