Just announced at New York Comic Con during the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing Panel, a new chapter is set to unfold in the Marvel Universe. Chris Condon and Alessandro Cappuccio are teaming up for the ‘Ultimate Wolverine’ series, set to launch in January 2025.
This new addition joins beloved titles like ‘Ultimate Spider-Man,’ ‘Ultimate Black Panther,’ ‘Ultimate X-Men,’ and ‘Ultimates.’ Rising star Chris Condon, known for his work on ‘That Texas Blood’ and ‘Venom War: Daredevil,’ will pen the series. Alessandro Cappuccio, renowned for his work on ‘Moon Knight,’ will handle the artwork.
Fans can expect a fresh take on Wolverine, who, in this series, is depicted as an unwilling agent controlled by the Maker—a shadowy figure who orchestrates this corrupt universe. Wolverine remains a top assassin, despite being mindwiped and manipulated into fulfilling dark deeds. And here’s what they think:
Chris Condon shared his excitement about the project, revealing his immediate acceptance when approached by editor Wil Moss. He plans to infuse his storytelling flair, evident in ‘That Texas Blood,’ into the Marvel world, promising a mix of reverence for the past and bold new narratives. Condon teased fans about Wolverine’s redesigned costume, pointing out a Red Star and a muzzle on his mask—hints at his wild nature.
The storyline intensifies with the introduction of the Winter Soldier, deployed by the Maker’s council, consisting of Magik, Colossus, and Omega Red, to keep their dominion under control. The identity of the Winter Soldier, however, remains shrouded in mystery, raising questions and anticipation among fans.
Before we dive into ‘Ultimate Wolverine’ in January, a prelude story by Condon and Cappuccio in ‘Ultimate Universe: One Year In #1’ will be released. This special one-shot wraps up the first year of the revamped Ultimate Universe and sets the stage for the Maker’s dramatic return.
Check out Cappuccio’s striking main cover for ‘Ultimate Wolverine #1’ along with alternative versions by artists Gleb Melnikov and Steve Skroce. Also revealed was the ‘Ultimate Universe: One Year In #1 Spoiler Variant Cover,’ showcasing Ultimate Wolverine, ramping up excitement for what’s to come.
As fans, we’re on the edge of our seats, ready to see how these new twists unfold in Wolverine’s saga and how the Winter Soldier fits into this reimagined universe. The stakes are high and the intrigue deep. Get ready to pick up your copies come January and join in on the adventure that Marvel promises will be like no other.
