James Gunn has recently finished shooting his Superman movie and is now focused on assembling the cast for the upcoming TV series ‘Creature Commandos’.

In a significant reveal, it has been confirmed that Benjamin Byron Davis will lend his voice to Rupert Thorne, a notorious Batman adversary, in the series.

The announcement was made subtly on Instagram, where Davis excitedly remarked that ‘faces are going to melt,’ and Gunn acknowledged him as ‘Hi Rupert Thorne.’

Rupert Thorne is a major threat in Gotham and has historically been a formidable foe for Batman. His introduction in ‘Creature Commandos’ hints at a larger narrative arc that could see him confronting Batman in future DCU projects.

Thorne is known for his role in the creation of another major villain, Two-Face, suggesting that Davis’s portrayal could transition to the big screen and expand the roster of Batman’s enemies.

‘Creature Commandos’ draws from a variety of comic book sources, including Batman, although it’s based on a lesser-known title series.

The show will feature other villains like Clayface, potentially setting up future cinematic battles for Batman. The series is expected to premiere on Max in December 2024.

Gunn’s decision to cast Davis, with whom he has previously collaborated on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’, indicates a continuing partnership that might see Thorne appear across the DCU.

Given Gunn’s style of reuniting with the same actors across multiple projects, we might encounter Thorne’s character more than once as the DCU unfolds.
