Fans are really excited about the two upcoming ‘Avengers’ movies, ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’. While we don’t know much about the plots, we can guess that they will follow the ‘Time Runs Out’ storyline and the events of ‘Secret Wars’.
Robert Downey Jr. is coming back to the MCU, but this time he will play Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man, and he will be a key figure in this multiversal conflict.
At the recent New York Comic Con, the Russo brothers shared that ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ won’t be filmed back to back like ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’ were.
Joe Russo: It’ll be similar, but we’ll have a larger break in between the two movies than we did. I think it was four weeks maybe? Was it four weeks between Infinity War and Endgame?
Anthony Russo: I think it was a couple of weeks. But no, these are not as separated as you would normally separate two films of this scale, but they’re more substantially separated [than Infinity War and Endgame] by a year or so.
There will be a one-year gap between filming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’. ‘Doomsday’ is expected to start filming in Spring 2025, with a release date set for May 2026. This break has fans excited for the MCU’s Phase 6, as it could help build interesting theories about the Multiverse Saga and how it will adapt the ‘Secret Wars’ story from the comics.
One likely reason for this break is that two other movies are planned to come out in between: ‘Spider-Man 4’ and ‘Doctor Strange 3’.
‘Spider-Man 4’ was initially supposed to be a street-level story, but after it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would return as Doctor Doom, it changed to focus on the Multiverse.
So far, not much is known about the plot, but there are rumors about many villains, including Knull and Symbiotes.
While many of these rumors may not be true, the theory that *Spider-Man 4* will explore the relationship between Iron Man and Spider-Man, as well as how it affects Peter’s relationship with Doctor Doom, is likely to be accurate.
The second movie that will probably come out between ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ is ‘Doctor Strange 3’. Even before this movie was officially announced, it was rumored that Doctor Strange would be the most important character in the MCU for the Multiverse Saga.
This makes sense because Doctor Strange was the first character in the MCU connected to the Multiverse and incursions. According to recent rumors, Doctor Strange will play a key role in the fate of the Multiverse. He has been targeted by a multiversal group called the Black Priests, which includes Clea (played by Charlize Theron).
The Black Priests’ headquarters is located in a place called Nothing Space, which exists between the ruins of two destroyed universes caused by an incursion.
Doctor Strange is called by the Black Priests, who work in the multiverse, and they reveal that the multiverse is about to be destroyed because of a series of incursions.
The latest problem was caused by Doctor Strange himself, which fits with the sequel’s focus on how he might unintentionally threaten the stability of the multiverse, a theme that was briefly mentioned in the last film.
While ‘Spider-Man 4’ may not be closely tied to the upcoming Avengers movies, ‘Doctor Strange 3’ definitely is. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
