DC Studios’ CEO, James Gunn, is steering the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) into a new direction with the DC Universe (DCU) reboot. This reset introduces a new Superman and an unfamiliar world, yet some elements like Creature Commands link back to The Suicide Squad. The situation gets trickier with Peacemaker’s second season, which sort of remains within continuity.

Gunn has taken a fresh approach, focusing on lesser-known superheroes like Mister Terrific and Hawkgirl in the upcoming Superman movie. However, many are curious about the future roles of Aquaman and The Flash.

It appears these characters will be recast, especially given the controversial past of Ezra Miller as Barry Allen. In response to fan queries, Gunn discussed these changes without confirming any details.

Interestingly, Jason Momoa might portray Lobo in the new DCU, although this is not yet official. Gunn also hinted at a possible video game featuring the DCU’s Batman, clarifying earlier misunderstandings about its relation to The Batman.

Gunn emphasized that from the first DCU project, all content will be canonical and interconnected. He values the unique contributions of individual writers and directors, allowing varied expressions within the DCU, which he insists should not be seen as the ‘Gunnverse.’
