Set for release on July 25, 2025, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ is gearing up to be a standout in the MCU lineup. With Matt Shakman at the helm, known for his work on ‘WandaVision,’ the film promises to blend classic techniques with fresh talent.
In a thrilling update by The Cosmic Circus, British actor and puppeteer Jack Parker will bring the beloved robot H.E.R.B.I.E. to life on screen.
While you might know Parker from roles in ‘The Acolyte’ and ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,’ his latest venture involves puppeteering H.E.R.B.I.E., a Highly Engineered Robot Built for Interdimensional Exploration.
This approach mirrors how filmmakers manage iconic Star Wars droids, enhancing the authenticity of their interactions.
Jack Parker’s involvement hints that H.E.R.B.I.E. won’t just be CGI. Instead, we can look forward to seeing a tangible, interactive puppet.
This choice echoes director Shakman’s preference for practical effects, showcased spectacularly at Comic-Con with the Fantasticar.
The film boasts a dynamic cast including Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.
These stars are joined by Ralph Ineson playing the formidable Galactus, with Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal or the Silver Surfer.
The plot revolves around Earth facing destruction from these cosmic forces, adding a layer of high-stakes drama to the story.
The screenplay saw a collaboration between ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ co-writer Josh Friedman, ‘WandaVision’s’ Cam Squires, and Eric Pearson of ‘Black Widow’ fame, who added the final touches.
While much of the buzz this year is likely to focus on ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ and ‘Thunderbolts*,’ I’m particularly excited about our new glimpse at Marvel’s First Family.
With such an innovative team behind and in front of the camera, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is shaping up to be a deeply engaging addition to the MCU.
