This year brought the debut and quick conclusion of ‘The Acolyte’, a Star Wars Disney+ series that didn’t make it past its first season.

Despite being set up as the earliest chronological entry in the Star Wars saga, happening over a century before ‘Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace’, the show was canceled due to not meeting viewership expectations.

Fans of ‘The Acolyte’ were understandably upset by the news, but there’s a silver lining. Characters from the show, including the Jedi Yord and Jecki, are slated to return.

Tess Gratton is authoring a novel featuring these characters, which takes place a few years prior to the events of ‘The Acolyte’. The book is titled ‘The Crystal Crown‘ and is set for a July 2025 release.

Last week’s New York Comic-Con buzzed with discussions about the upcoming novel, sparked by queries to the show’s creator, Leslye Headland, about the future of these characters.

Headland, alongside Pablo Hidalgo, has planned more adventures for Yord and Jecki, revealing that these characters were intended to be killed off mid-season but now will see new life in the novel.

‘The Crystal Crown’ promises to delve into the backstory of Yord Fandar, a character Headland previously developed in a gaming campaign, providing a deeper understanding of his origins and adventures before his untimely demise in the show.

This novel will satisfy those yearning for more from the universe of ‘The Acolyte’, bringing some closure and new tales to fans.
