James Gunn and Peter Safran, the new heads at DC Studios, are steering the studio into exciting territory with their future projects, including both animated and live-action films. They’re launching an ambitious plan starting with ‘Creature Commandos’ in 2024.

Next in line is the animated film ‘Dynamic Duo,’ slated for release in spring 2028. It’s an intriguing project that focuses on two characters who have both been Robin—Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.

Both have stood by Batman’s side before becoming Nightwing and Red Hood, respectively. We’re promised an innovative animation style that merges CGI with practical elements, under the direction of Arthur Mintz.

What’s really cool is the story they’re setting up. It follows teenage versions of Grayson and Todd hustling to make ends meet in Gotham. Whether Batman shows up remains a mystery.

This project is a collaboration between DC Studios, Gunn and Safran, and Matt Reeves of ‘The Batman’ fame through his 6th and Idaho production house. However, it’s still up in the air if this film will be part of the official new DCU canon.

Looking beyond 2024, we’re excited for the ‘Superman: Legacy’ reboot directed by Gunn himself, coming out in 2025. That same year will also see ‘Peacemaker’ return for a second season. And in 2026, we’re getting ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ featuring Milly Alcock.

There are more projects on the horizon, like HBO’s ‘Lanterns’ series and ‘The Brave and the Bold’ Bat-family movie, but exact release dates aren’t set yet.

This news was all confirmed during the Warner Brothers Pictures Animation panel at the Lightbox Expo. Keep an eye out as DC Studios fills up its calendar with these and other titles. We can’t wait to see where Gunn and Safran take us next!
