Catastrophic amount of money Joker 2 will cost Warner Bros after ‘terrible’ sequel bombs at box office

Joker 2 released earlier this month to pretty poor reviews

The shocking amount of money the Joker 2 will ultimately cost Warner Bros. has been revealed.

Joker: Folie à Deux, a sequel to the 2019 Joker, released earlier this month to much anticipation.

Heading into it, there was a lot of excitement and hype surrounding the sequel, but to say it fell flat on its face is certainly an understatement.

The movie sits at a lowly 32 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, with some film buffs walking out of cinemas after being unimpressed by the flick.

There’s no doubt the Joker sequel has ended up being a box office disaster, with Variety reporting the movie has grossed $51.5 million domestically and $165 million across the globe in its first two weeks.

Joker 2 is expected make around $65 million domestically, according to Variety, while we can predict it will make $210 million to $215 million globally by the time it leaves cinemas.

Well, such figures would create huge problems for WB as Joker 2 is estimated to have cost $200 million to produce and a further $100 million to market and distribute across the world.

Variety states that sources close to Warner Bros. are hoping the movie will break even, though the company would have surely been hoping to make a sizeable profit.

After watching the Joker sequel in cinemas, many film fanatics have flocked to social media to provide their say.

And I think it’s fair to say the majority of X users are unimpressed to say the least.

One person penned: “Giving Joker 2 a go because a) the first one was decent and b) I thought the reviews would surely be dramatic… F**k me

“Do NOT let your curiosity make you watch it. It’s genuinely the worst film I have ever watched.”

Another user added: “I watched Joker 2 tonight and it is my least favourite movie ever, there is no redeeming qualities, this movie is a complete piece of shit in every way. awful script, terrible performances, everything looks so boring. A completely hollow movie. it hates everyone who buys a ticket.”

It’s not all bad for the Joker sequel, however, with one five-star review stating: “It’s probably not for everybody. Those who have depth and have the ability to lose themselves in the story will love it. The acting was phenomenal.”
