DCU’s Superman is set to debut on July 11, 2025, and according to James Gunn, it will be the first true introduction to the DCU, even though Creature Commandos will be released earlier. Filming wrapped several months ago, but aside from a few promotional images and set leaks, there’s been no official trailer or teaser so far.
However, that didn’t stop a French news station from generating its own AI-created Superman trailer.
France TV recently aired an AI-generated teaser for the upcoming Superman movie during a culture segment. The teaser featured a poorly rendered version of David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, with Corenswet wearing a badly generated costume that looked more like animation than live-action.
Some scenes in the teaser appeared to be lifted from the DCEU’s Superman, adding to the confusion. The quality was subpar, raising questions about how a TV network could mistake this for an official trailer. Things escalated further when James Gunn himself caught wind of the fake trailer:
Yes, Gunn’s initial response was a vomit emoji, and later in the comments, he added that it would’ve been better if he hadn’t seen it at all.
Most of the reactions to the AI-generated trailer have been overwhelmingly negative, and we’re relieved it’s not an official release. James Gunn touched on the topic of a real Superman trailer during his panel at NYCC.
Gunn mentioned that while we can expect the first trailer in the future, it won’t be coming anytime soon, which makes sense as the film’s marketing campaign is still months away from ramping up.
In the meantime, let’s take a look at some fan reactions to the fake “trailer”:
