Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, posted a nostalgic photo before he tragically died.

Police have confirmed that the 31-year-old star was found dead in Buenos Aires, according to reports.

Liam’s final Instagram post came just weeks before his untimely death, where he shared an image with his ex-bandmates as a nod to Morgan Spurlock, the renowned American documentary filmmaker, writer, and television producer.

The touching photograph showed Liam standing with Morgan, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. His caption read: “Rest in peace Morgan Spurlock it was a pleasure working with you.”

Devastated fans quickly filled the post with messages of mourning after learning of his sudden demise.

Another said: “Tell me it’s not true.”

A further lamented with a simple: “RIP Liam.”

Payne skyrocketed to fame with One Direction, formed during their stint on the X Factor.

He first auditioned for the ITV competition in 2008 but gained success with a second shot at the contest in 2010, when he joined forces with Niall, Harry, Louis, and Zayn to form one of the most successful boy bands in music history.

He was aged just 16 when he was thrust into the limelight.

Payne was on holiday in Buenos Aires with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. La Nacion revealed that the 31-year-old fell to his death at a hotel in the posh district of Palermo.

A body was reportedly discovered in an internal courtyard of the hotel.

A local ambulance manager relayed to TN: “At 5.04pm through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.”

At 5.11pm a team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group.

“Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”

In the past few weeks, Payne has been sharing his Argentine adventures and even attended the concert of his former bandmate, Niall.
