Sony’s newest Marvel movie, ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ has had its initial batch of reviews tallied, landing a Rotten Tomatoes score of 39% from 67 reviews.

This isn’t a great start for the film, especially compared to its predecessors—’Venom’ scored 30% and ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ managed 47%.

Here’s what critics are saying:

Despite the low scores historically not favoring the Venom series well, they haven’t stopped the movies from succeeding at the box office.

In its international debut, the movie has shown strong performance, particularly in China where it garnered $9.3 million on its opening day, as reported by Deadline.

This marks the biggest superhero movie opening in China since ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home.’ Predictions suggest ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ could rake in over $30 million in China within the first five days alone.

While the Chinese market isn’t as reliably profitable as it once was, the film is still expected to do well, possibly earning up to $82 million there by the end of its run.

Globally, the film’s opening weekend forecast has been adjusted upwards to $165 million, up from an earlier estimate of $150 million. This adjustment reflects a positive shift in expectations surrounding the movie’s financial success.

The plot of ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ follows the dramatic and intense journey of Eddie and Venom, portrayed by Tom Hardy. As the final chapter of their story unfolds, they find themselves pursued by enemies from both their worlds.

This chase pushes them towards a heartbreaking decision, ending their tumultuous partnership in a climactic showdown. Alongside Hardy, the film features Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Graham, and Rhys Ifans.

The screenplay, co-written by Kelly Marcel and Tom Hardy, is directed by Marcel. Producers for the film include Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy, and Hutch Parker.

Audiences can catch ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ in theaters starting October 25. Despite the less-than-stellar critical reception, the film’s thrilling conclusion to the Venom saga is sure to draw crowds eager to see how Eddie and Venom’s story ends.
