Ranker is a popular place on the Internet where people can rank whatever they want, however they want, and whenever they want. This is always a fan-focused ranking system, and it is never officially tied to the people behind the projects in question.

Recently, a large survey was organized on Ranker, whose goal was to determine the best superhero film sequels of all time. The list includes more than 50 titles, but in our report, we have decided to list the top ten films from the site to provide you with better insight, combined with our original comments and opinions, which will add flavor to the whole report.

Of course, since this is indeed an important list, we have decided to report on it, so we are going to bring you the results by listing the top 10 movies on this list, from 10th to first place. We hope you’ll enjoy it!

10. X-Men: Days of Future Past

There have been many X-Men movies throughout the course of the franchise’s run, but none of them left such an impression as Days of the Future Past. Not only was it a proper crossover event that everyone wanted, but it was a great movie with a great plot that effectively showed how much weight these stories had, and that is what the fans always love to see.

9. Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man 2 is by all standards a near-perfect film. It is the best film in Raimi’s trilogy and still, without a doubt, the best Spider-Man film ever made. It had a great story, emotional weight, and a villain that is still regarded as one of the best comic book villains in the history of film. We agree that this movie should be here, but we’d probably put it in the top three it if were up to us.

8. Logan

Although technically not a direct sequel to any movie, this standalone “sequel” definitely deserves to be here and in the top five, without a doubt; we don’t get how it ended up so low on the list, but okay. Logan had it all and much like Days of the Future Past, the story had weight and importance, which is why the consequences were so effective and why the movie left such a major mark on everyone.

7. Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a multiversal masterpiece and because all three Spider-Men came together, the fans loved it. Still, the movie was full of various issues and the only reason why it is here is because of the three Spider-Men, as Marvel managed to do a good thing with the nostalgia in the movie. We’d give it a place on this list, but not this high, honestly.

6. Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok is the best Thor movie and the only one worthy to be called a proper movie that made sense. Taika Waititi did an amazing job and the movie had everything, which is why we can understand why it is on this list. We’d not rank it this high, but overall, we agree with the listing and it would be in our top 10 as well.

5. Avengers: Endgame

Endgame had to be on this list. There is no doubt about this. But you might be surprised by it not being in the top three, although we actually agree with this. This is the best Marvel had to offer, but Endgame is not the boldest Marvel movie and even when compared to Infinity War, Endgame does fall short in several aspects, and that explains this ranking.

4. Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

How this abomination of a movie that ruined a perfectly great comic book storyline ended up in fourth place is a complete mystery. Civil War is not a horrible movie, but it is a deeply flawed movie that tried to hide its shortcomings and inconsistencies by introducing new characters and hyping fans up.

This movie is the only one we wouldn’t even put on this list, especially with movies such as Batman Returns, Superman II, The Dark Knight Rises, several X-Men movies, and so on, not making the list.

3. Avengers: Infinity War

As we have said above, Infinity War is better than Endgame in the sense that it was a bold move that dared push some boundaries. Although Marvel was quick to correct it in Endgame, Infinity War works well as a standalone sequel and we completely agree with this listing. Whether it’s in the top three is up to you, but we’re not complaining that much about it now.

2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Winter Soldier on spot #2 seems a bit odd. Don’t get us wrong, it was a truly great sequel – surprisingly great, in fact – but it’s not really the second-best of all time. We’d potentially give it the 10th spot on this list, because it really is good, but this is a borderline choice that we can support, but a ranking that is definitely exaggerated.

1. The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is a perfect movie in every sense and… well, there is no doubt that this is, so far, the best superhero sequel of all time. Nolan’s direction, Bale’s and Ledger’s acting, brilliant supporting roles, a story that was absolutely amazing – all of this contributed to the success of the movie and we can only agree with this listing here.
