Jumanji 3 Sets a 2026 Release Date

Sony Pictures has locked down a Jumanji 3 release date of December 11, 2026.

The movie studio announced the schedule update today, confirming that a third entry in its franchise reboot series is in the works with plans to swing into IMAX and other Premium Large Formats in a little more than two years. It’s a date that will keep Jumanji 3 from audiences for quite a while, and while a cast has not been confirmed, reports that director Jake Kasdan, along with stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan, are in talks and expected to return.

Jumanji introduced moviegoers to its jungle board game premise in 1995. In the film, the titular board game brings dangerous wildlife creatures – and a lost boy played by Robin Williams – into the real world. It’s a cult-classic with a unique idea that many latched onto, so it was no surprise when Sony decided to reanimate the IP with fresh faces in 2017. The franchise refresh, titled Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, stars Johnson, Black, Hart, and Gillan and brought a few modern twists the story.

In the reboot, four students are pulled into the world of Jumanji after the table-top adventure is transformed into a video game. We gave the 2017 project a 7/10 in , calling it “An enjoyably comedic trip back to the world of Jumanji.” A sequel, Jumanji: The New Level, followed in 2019, bringing back much of the cast established in the previous movie. Despite fears that the film could potentially play it safe, we called it a “blast” in our . At the time, we said the sequel “wisely sheds more light on its characters before thrusting them back into the video game world.”

Although the previous movie came with a few teases of what to expect in the future, the plot of Jumanji 3 currently remains a mystery. If Kasdan and the rest of the cast do indeed return, it sounds like we can expect follow-up that keeps in line with the two films that have come before it. While we wait for details, be sure to check out when it first premiered.
