2024 was a big year for Marvel’s beloved characters, Wade Wilson and Logan, with their latest cinema release. The movie ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ launched in July and quickly topped the box office charts for several weeks, making it an instant favorite.
The film showcased the dynamic duo of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool becoming close allies as they navigated challenges across the multiverse.
This success has left us craving more of their adventures. While there are whispers of a sequel and possibly a Christmas special, nothing has quenched our thirst for more action-packed stories.
Fortunately, the wait won’t be much longer as the characters are set to return in a brand new Marvel Comics series.
The upcoming series, titled ‘Deadpool/Wolverine,’ is a creative work by writer Benjamin Percy and artist Joshua Cassera.
The series draws inspiration from the gritty, high-octane vibes of ’80s action films like ‘Rambo: First Blood II’ and ‘Commando.’ Benjamin Percy, in an interview with IGN, mentioned that the essence of the series channels the thrill and madness typical of action heroes like Schwarzenegger, Stallone, or Van Damme, who could all fit right into the narrative.
He emphasized that the series began its development well before the film’s release, so while the recent movie hasn’t influenced the comics directly, fans will recognize the similar chemistry between the characters—full of conflict, camaraderie, and, of course, plenty of violence.
The first issue of ‘Deadpool/Wolverine’ is set to be available on 1 January, 2025. We can hardly wait to see Deadpool and Wolverine tearing it up in comic book form, proving once again why they are some of Marvel’s most cherished characters.
