Fantastic Four: First Steps is one of the most anticipated movies in the MCU, set to release on July 25, 2025. From what we’ve seen in set leaks, everything aims to be comic-accurate.
The movie will be set in an alternate reality where the Fantastic Four are already an established team, and it will feature some of their most well-known villains.
The cast for First Steps includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, with Moss-Bachrach using CGI for his role. Julia Garner will play Shalla-Bal, the MCU’s Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson will portray Galactus, one of Marvel’s most powerful villains.
Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have been cast in unknown roles, and Mole Man is also expected to appear. There are rumors that Robert Downey Jr. will show up as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom in a post-credits scene.
When John Malkovich was first cast, fans thought he would play Puppet Master because of his appearance. However, according to Charles Murphy from Murphy’s Multiverse, it seems Malkovich will actually play Ivan Kragoff, a villain in Marvel Comics known as the Red Ghost.
Kragoff is a Russian scientist who gains powers from cosmic rays, like the Fantastic Four, and he can control three super-smart apes—Nameless, Zorba, and Mik-Em—to help him with his evil schemes.
We’re hoping the first trailer for the movie will give us more details about his role, but so far, we only have rumors and guesses. The trailer probably won’t come out soon, but we’re hoping to see some new footage during a “special look” at D23 Brazil this weekend. Even if it isn’t shared online later, we should still get some new information about the movie.
