MEMORABLE: Taylor Swift’s surprise songs from Night 2 of the Eras Tour in Toronto, including two mashups
According to Life and Style, the power couple have drawn up a plan to ‘grow their bank accounts and influence together’ and one of those moves could be to enter into the business side of sports.
They wouldn’t need to look far for inspiration – close friends Patrick and Brittany Mahomes part-own women’s soccer team Kansas City Current, while the Chiefs quarterback also has a stake in baseball team Kansas City Royals.
The publication claims that they could start by launching their own alcohol brand before eventually one day buying a team.
A source is quoted as saying: ‘The sky is the limit as far as what they can do together with their combined reach, so they’re looking at all kinds of opportunities where they could team up and the liquor business is a really obvious choice.
‘There’s so much money to be made and it’s a very organic fit because they genuinely love making cocktails together and cutting loose. It’s not just the booze business they want to get into.
‘They’re looking to start all kinds of projects together, everything from a joint production company, to co-owning a sports team, their goal is to just grow their bank accounts and influence together.’
It might be complicated for Kelce and Swift to join the ownership of an NFL team, though.
Back in June on his New Heights podcast, the Chiefs star told his brother Jason he would like to follow Tom Brady as an NFL analyst but referenced the complications around Brady also trying to buy a small stake in the Las Vegas Raiders – which was only recently approved.
Responding to rumors that part of the Philadelphia Eagles were for sale, Kelce said: ‘I would rather try and buy the Chiefs or be a minority stake owner in the Chiefs.’
Jason replied: ‘I don’t know that it matters how much a minority stake is, I don’t think we can afford it.’
‘And also you can’t call the game or do anything like that, because of the whole Tom Brady thing,’ Travis added. ‘He wanted to have a minority stake in the (Las Vegas) Raiders and it messed with his TV deal.
‘Because I want to broadcast when I’m done playing. I want to be the talking head that calls the games.’
The NFL had to agree rules for Brady to abide by as an owner and an analyst for Fox – he can’t criticize refereeing calls or visit team headquarters in the week to prepare for calling games.
Alternatively, the fact an agreement was reached to satisfy all parties could show to Kelce that if he really wants to be an analyst and a team owner, a deal can get done in the end.
The three-time Super Bowl winner holds interest in an array of sports. He was recently at a Yankees-Guardians playoff baseball game in New York with Swift, and has made no secret of his love of hockey and basketball either.
