Kim Kardashian recently opened up about the bittersweet aspects of motherhood. On her Instagram Stories, she shared a heartfelt quote, reading, “The sad part about motherhood is that you’re raising the one person you can’t live without… to be able to live without you.” She added a teary-eyed emoji, reflecting her emotions around this sentiment.
This post came shortly after reports suggested Kanye West, her ex-husband, hasn’t been spending much time with their four children. Kardashian and West, who share daughter North (11), son Saint (8), daughter Chicago (6), and son Psalm (5), finalized their divorce in November 2022. According to a source close to Kardashian, she is handling much of the parenting alone, essentially acting as a “single mom” despite having some help. “Although she has help, it’s still a lot of work for her to balance and coordinate everything,” the source shared, adding that her focus remains firmly on her children.
Kardashian has spoken before about the challenges of single motherhood. In a May 2023 appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, she revealed that there are nights when she cries herself to sleep, feeling the weight of her responsibilities. “Obviously, having nannies and a chef to help cook is beyond helpful… But at the end of the day, your kids only want you,” she said, explaining that no amount of assistance can replace her presence in her children’s lives.
As part of their custody agreement, Kardashian and West agreed to have joint custody with “equal access,” with West providing $200,000 per month in child support and covering half of the kids’ educational and security costs
