‘The View’ hosts slam NFL fans for ‘blaming’ Taylor Swift over Travis Kelce’s slow start: ‘Grow up, y’all’

The “View” co-hosts think Kansas City Chiefs fans need to calm down.

During Tuesday’s episode of the daytime talk show, Whoopi Goldberg slammed football fans for “accusing” Taylor Swift of taking Travis Kelce’s “mind off the game” amid his slow start to the 2024 season.

“[The fans] apparently forgot that [the Chiefs] won the Super Bowl last year with him, and [Swift and Kelce] were just as tight then as they are now. What is going on?” the 68-year-old rhetorically questioned.

Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sunny Hostin pointed out that the Chiefs are currently undefeated despite Kelce’s underwhelming performance over the last three games.

The women slammed football fans for blaming Kelce’s performance on Taylor Swift.

Not only that but Hostin also noted Swift wasn’t even in attendance at Kelce’s most recent game against the Atlanta Falcons.

“Is she supposed to play the game, too?” she jokingly asked.

Since the season began earlier this month, Kelce has only logged eight catches for 69 yards — less than half the number of receptions he tallied in his first three games in 2023 and 2022.

He also has yet to score a touchdown during the 2024 season.

However, Whoopi Goldberg pointed out that Swift and Kelce were dating when he won the Super Bowl last year.
However, as Griffin puts it, “football is a team sport.”

“Just because he’s not making touchdowns doesn’t mean he’s not contributing to the success of the team,” the former political strategist said.

“They’re currently undefeated this season. Once again, just the classic blaming a woman for a man.”

Joy Behar backed Griffin up, emphasizing that women being blamed for men’s issues is a tale as old as time.

“Grow up, y’all,” Goldberg told naysayers. “Stop putting this on her.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin also pointed out that the Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated despite Kelce’s underwhelming outings.
“This goes back to the Garden of Eden,” she joked. “And trust me I was there so I know. But it’s as old as the hills — it’s biblical, to blame the woman and here we go again.”

Goldberg, for her part, had a slightly different take, suggesting that the “MAGA crowd” was leading the charge against Swift “because they are mad that she is not supporting you-know-who” — referencing the pop star’s endorsement of Kamala Harris over Donald Trump.

“Because why else would this suddenly be an issue?” she questioned.

The “Sister Act” star also brought up the fact that Kelce is “busy” with his entertainment career and is simply getting a bit older, which inevitably impacts his performance on the field.

Travis Kelce
Kelce has faced lots of criticism over his performance the last couple of weeks.

Some analysts have suggested that he is “out of shape” after “partying all offseason” with Swift.
“Grow up, y’all,” Goldberg told viewers. “Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well. Shut up!”

Kelce has been a hot topic of discussion ever since his third straight lackluster outing over the weekend.

While some sports analysts have brought up Kelce’s age and defensive schemes, others have been more blunt with their critiques.

Former ESPN journo Todd McShay, for instance, suggested the tight end is “out of shape” after “partying all offseason” with Swift.

“He’s been jet-setting around with the most famous person probably in the entire world,” McShay said, noting that Kelce attended several international Eras Tour dates and even went to the US Open with Swift after the Chiefs season opener.

Although McShay noted that he was “not blaming” Swift for Kelce’s slow start, he said it’s impossible to be doing so many other things and “still put in the same amount of time for football.”

Kelce admitted that he could be playing “better” on his podcast Wednesday.

“We’re finding ways to win games, but we’re not playing our best football,” the footballer said.

Kelce addressed the ongoing criticism during Wednesday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast, admitting that he could be playing “better.”
“We’re finding ways to win games, but we’re not playing our best football,” Kelce told brother and co-host Jason Kelce. “Everybody can clean it up. I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter with that crucial third down.”

Although Travis said he is “not really getting a lot of opportunities to make plays down the field,” he is still trying to “help the team out” in other ways.
