The Buffalo Bills this week absorbed some bad news this week as they sustained a 35-10 pounded at the hands of Derrick Henry’s Baltimore Ravens on “Sunday Night Football” … and then the hits just kept on coming with the NFL’s official decision on a controversial case involving standout Von Miller.
The NFL issued a four-game suspension for Bills star Von Miller for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy, all apparently as a result of a domestic violence incident a year ago. … though because the NFL hasn’t tied the punishment directly to that case there are reports questioning whether there is an additional issue.
Miller, the likely future Pro Football Hall of Fame who signed a six-year, $120 million contract to move to Buffalo in 2022, will not be eligible to return until after the Bills play in Week 8.
A source close to the situation tells BillsCentral that the punishment – which in a sense amounts to the league handing down its own “guilty” verdict as allowed by the CBA, assuming it is tied to this incident – comes as no surprise to those involved.
The alleged domestic violence incident occurred in Miller’s home-town area near Dallas and involved his longtime girlfriend, Megan Denise, on Nov. 29, 2023, while the Bills were on a bye.
Miller eventually turned himself in to the Glenn Heights (Texas) Police Department on Nov. 30, on suspicion of assaulting a pregnant woman, which in Texas is a third-degree felony. He was booked into the DeSoto jail before being released on $5,000 bond.
No charges were filed in large part because Denise seems to change her initial story, calling the allegations “outrageous.” The only problem with her assertion is that Denis is the one who made the allegations, calling 911. And on the call, she can be heard claiming, “My boyfriend is choking and hitting me!”
Shortly after that – like now – Denise took a different position. In unison with the NFL ruling, she posted a message on Instagram hoping for “love, peace, healing, progress, blessings, happiness and opportunity.” (Denise later made her IG private.)
Miller, 35, did acknowledge last December that the couple had “a third son on the way.” A week ago, he posted an IG photo of himself with the two young children he shares two children with Denise, Valor and Victory.
Miller, has denied all allegations regarding the assault in December.
“It is 100-percent false,” he said. “It’s overblown. I’ve got the right people on the job … The only thing that is true is that we do have a third son on the way,” Miller said. “Everything else is untrue.”
Denise followed up the arrest by stating the incident involving the two-time Super Bowl champ and fan favorite “a huge misunderstanding,” adding, “Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous!”
