Marvel’s Secret Casting for Major MCU Villain We’ve All Missed

Share:

If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), you might recall the introduction of Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart, in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ What you may not remember is that Marvel announced an Ironheart TV series way back in 2020, long before the film’s release. The series, which was surprisingly filmed in 2022, has been under wraps but is expected to debut in 2025.

Riri, an MIT student, will return to Chicago in the series where she faces dangers that literally land on her doorstep, as revealed by a copyright database. The series promises to weave threads of adventure and peril through her life, creating a rich backdrop for the story.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. During the filming of ‘Ironheart,’ a production call sheet leaked online, listing Sacha Baron Cohen’s involvement. Initially, his role was shrouded in mystery. However, Deadline confirmed through an anonymous source close to the production that Cohen is set to portray Mephisto, a major villain in the MCU.

Last year, a copyright filing officially added Cohen to the cast list but only referred to him as ‘Mystery Man.’ Despite the secrecy, multiple insiders have since supported the claims about Cohen playing Mephisto.

Just last year, Jeff Sneider and more recently Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus discussed the casting. Perez mentioned that Mephisto would play ‘a very light supporting role’ in Ironheart, hinting at a setup for a more significant appearance possibly against Wanda in a future project.

While we should remain cautious until official confirmation, all signs are pointing to an intriguing plot twist involving Mephisto. Sacha Baron Cohen’s potential involvement adds an exciting layer to the unfolding Marvel narrative, especially considering the villain’s notorious background.

Remember, keep an eye out for ‘Ironheart’ in 2025, and don’t be surprised if Mephisto makes a significant impact in the MCU, orchestrated by none other than Sacha Baron Cohen.
