Star Wars' Ewan McGregor Says Disney Is 'Exploring' Ideas for Obi

Star Wars Prequel Trilogy star Ewan McGregor has renewed hopes for Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi, saying Disney and Lucasfilm are currently "exploring" ideas.

McGregor was interviewed on stage at LA Comic Con, where he said the one Star Wars project he wants to work on is the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor then stopped himself from saying "we're definitely hoping" to make more of the show to instead say "'exploring' that would be the word to say."

This is far from a confirmation that Season 2 is on the way but is certainly more hopeful than comments made by McGregor in February, when he said there was no talks of more Obi-Wan Kenobi happening at Disney.

As for what he wants to do in a second season, McGregor was met with cheers from the crowd when he talked about filming flashback scenes with Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen and even wearing the armor doned by Obi-Wan in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

And through flashbacks or not, McGregor appeared confident there's more of his character's story to be told. "Obviously between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there's got to be another few stories in there," he said.

Season 1 of Obi-Wan Kenobi earned an 8/10 in IGN's review but Disney appears reluctant to announce more despite quickly greenlighting subsequent seasons of other shows and even a film sequel to The Mandalorian.

McGregor has been campaigning for a second season for a long time, even pitching ideas to director Deborah Chow and insisting "there's another 10 years with plenty of stories" to tell. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy hasn't ruled out another season either, saying the company might turn its attention back to Obi-Wan Kenobi "down the road".
