After nine thrilling episodes that carried on the plot that began in WandaVision, Agatha All Along came to an end on October 30, 2024. It was a really enjoyable trip, and although the majority of the series’ significant events were foreseen by the fans, there were still plenty of thrills and excitement for the show to be considered a true hit.
But, the road was as rough as the in-show Witches’ Road. If you remember, the series had a very rough start, with critics and fans reacting lukewarmly to the initial episodes, but the series quickly gained momentum and soon became loved by both fans and critics.
In fact, this article will be dedicated to that aspect, as you will find out just how well the series did and why we are in the right when we say that, indeed, Agatha All Along is a proper hit series and that there is no way of denying that!
If you’ve seen the series, you are likely aware of how it all ended. We had correctly predicted that the Teen would turn out to be Wiccan, as well as the fact that Rio Vidal would actually turn out to be Lady Death.
As for Agatha, she took a cathartic stroll down the Witches’ Road, revealing just how powerful she is, but also how evil she is and everything she’s done over the course of her life. In a way. The series ends with the famed kiss between Agatha and Rio, after which Agatha returns in the form of a spirit to guide Wiccan.
And while the fans are hoping that we could see more of Agatha and Billy in the future, Marvel has neither confirmed nor denied anything. Jac Schaeffer said that the chances of seeing the duo are high, and Marvel not nominating Agatha All Along as a limited series means that the chances of a second season are still open. In light of that, would it make sense for Marvel to make a second season?
Was the show successful enough? Well, let us compare the scores for all the series and seasons released as part of the MCU’s Phase 5:
If you compare all the numbers, you will see that Agatha All Along has the best audience score of all the MCU Phase 5 shows that have aired so far, and the second-best critics’ score, second only to Season 2 of What If…?, whose audience score – on the contrary – is “just” 65%. The series thus surpassed the beloved series Loki, whose second season was not as good as the first one.
The critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes for Agatha All Along reveals the following: “The marvelous Kathryn Hahn is backed up by a coven of memorable performers in this MCU spinoff that refreshingly concocts its own distinct brew.“
As you can see, there is no reason to claim that the series is not a hit and there is absolutely no reason not to watch the show, which is what we are suggesting you do!
